The client came to Laings with a clear vision in mind - a light, relaxing and sophisticated en-suite bathroom that felt both considered and calm. During their initial consultation with bathroom designer Lee-Anne, it became apparent that they had already begun to shape their ideas, arriving with a strong sense of what they wanted to achieve.
Central to the design brief was a generously sized, minimalist walk-in shower alongside a separate bath. Practical considerations were equally important, with useful storage solutions and a concealed WC cistern both featuring prominently in the client's wishlist.
Working closely with Lee-Anne, the decision was made with the client to wall-mount both the WC and basin vanity. This approach not only lends the room a clean, contemporary edge but also makes day-to-day maintenance effortless - a small detail that makes a significant difference.
A bathroom of this size can fill up quickly, particularly when incorporating both a bath and a walk-in shower into the same space. With no window, it was equally important that the design remained light and airy - something that guided many of the decisions made throughout the process.
The previous bathroom had featured a separate bath and shower, however the existing shower was considerably smaller. Increasing it to the size the clients had envisioned meant losing the wall space that had previously housed the radiator, so an alternative heating solution needed to be found. A heated towel rail positioned above the end of the bath proved to be the perfect answer - making excellent use of an otherwise underutilised area.
The enlarged shower and bath also had a knock-on effect on the remaining floor space, reducing the room between where the WC and basin vanity were to be situated. To comfortably accommodate both within the available space, a slim WC frame was chosen - a neat solution that ensured no area of the room was compromised.

As well as working with our designer, the client was also working with Sue Hean Styling & Interiors on other rooms throughout their home, so it was super important that the bathroom felt cohesive with the wider vision. Collaborating closely with Sue and drawing from the mood board she had created, Lee-Anne was able to ensure the bathroom complemented the rest of the home’s interior seamlessly.
Brushed brass finishes were agreed upon collaboratively, chosen for their ability to add warmth and character whilst remaining effortlessly timeless. It was a decision that felt entirely in keeping with the client's original brief for a sophisticated space.
Another important detail of the space was the incorporation of a laydown space at the head of the bath - a considered touch that allows the client to style the area with candles and bath salts, giving the bathroom a truly spa-like feel.

Through close collaboration between all parties, we were able to bring the client's vision to life whilst making the very best use of the space available. A light, soft neutral palette runs throughout. Key features include Zellige-effect herringbone tiles in the vanity area, chosen to add visual interest and gently bounce light around the room, whilst brushed brass finishes bring a sense of timeless warmth to the overall scheme. Large format floor tiles paired with complementary textured wall tiles work together to create a greater feeling of space and flow.
The end result is a sophisticated en-suite bathroom that the clients truly love.

“This previously dark and outdated en-suite presented the ideal opportunity to transform the space into something special. Clean lines with a sophisticated, fresh feel were the design brief, so a light, soft neutral palette, using an interesting mix of wall tiles and herringbone with satin brass fittings, really delivered.
Laings were a pleasure to work with from start to finish and made the whole project run smoothly.”
