Your information will be held by James Laing & Sons Limited, which trades as Laings and Laings Directline.

You can find out more about Laings and Laings Directline at www.laings.com and www.laingsdirectline.co.uk.

This privacy policy explains how we use any personal information we collect about you when you use this website.

It covers:

  • What information will you collect about me?
  • How will you use my information?
  • What options do I have about contact for marketing purposes?
  • How can I access the information you store and, if required, correct it?
  • What happens to the information which I volunteer?
  • What information do you gather automatically about me?
  • What is your Cookies Policy?
  • Does this policy cover me when I click on a link to another website within laings.com/laingsdirectline.co.uk?
  • Will this privacy policy change?
  • How can I contact you with any further questions?

What information will you collect about me?

The information we collect from you will relate to how you use our website. You can browse our site as many times as you like without providing any personal details at all. However, should you wish to register for an event, enter a competition, or submit an enquiry to our team, you will be asked to provide some personal information including your name, email address and telephone number. If you are registering to attend an event you may also be asked how many people will be attending with you, the number of guests under 16 and if anyone in your party has any dietary requirements – this information purely enables us to cater to your needs and is never shared elsewhere.

Wherever you are asked to provide personal information on our website you will find a link to this privacy policy, so you can learn more about how the information you are giving will be used, before you choose to share it with us.

On every visit to our website, whether you send us an enquiry or are simply browsing, our system collects some anonymous information about it, allowing us to see how you use our website and which pages are of greatest interest to you, so we can improve the website’s functionality and our wider service provision accordingly. You cannot be personally identified from this information, but the system will gather information like your IP (Internet Protocol) address, how long you spend on our website, which pages you visit etc. This information is gathered by ‘Cookies’ – you can read more about our Cookies Policy below.

How will you use my information?

We will use your information for different purposes depending on the reason you supplied it.

For example, if you submit an enquiry about a product or service, it will be delivered to our Front of House team who will share it with the correct individual or team to support you. The individual or team who will be able to help you will then contact you using the information you have provided. Should your enquiry become an active project, we will create a customer file for you within our Customer Relationship Management system (CRM) so we can support your project as it progresses. If your enquiry is resolved through initial contact and no further action is required, your information will be deleted and not stored on our system. Our website does not retain records of enquiries made.

If we carry out a project for you, a new bathroom or kitchen, we will keep your details on our filing system indefinitely. Your designer will talk this through with you during the initial stages. This is because we offer a service whereby we will source replacement parts through warranties if required, a service that our customers find valuable. Your information is kept on an electronic system which is password protected.

Information received (e.g. credit card details) when processing a payment is disposed of securely. We will store a merchant copy of any card receipt, this helps us to identify the card to be refunded, if applicable. This receipt excludes the security code and therefore eliminates the risk of a further payment being made without your consent.

On completion of your project, we will use your personal data to ask you for feedback via email. We share your name, email address and the room[s] you purchased (as obtained during the order process) with Feefo, who will send you an email on our behalf asking you to complete a review. Our legal basis for doing this is our legitimate interest in asking for feedback in order to improve our products and services. Please see Feefo’s privacy policy for more information on how Feefo uses the reviews you submit.

To remain HMRC compliant we must store accounting records for six years from the end of the last company financial year they relate to. Our financial year runs to 31st August. Accounting records include money received/paid, all goods bought/sold and who bought/sold them. These records are held securely in a locked storage unit.

If you sign up to receive marketing communications from us, you will be added to our mailing list and can opt-out at any time, by simply clicking unsubscribe at the bottom of any marketing emails you receive.

If you enter a competition or register to attend an event, your information will only be used for the purposes of that competition or event. When you provide your information you will be asked if you would like to receive marketing communications from us – so you can hear about future competitions or events which may be of interest to you. You do not have to opt-in to these communications.

We will never share your information for marketing purposes with any other organisations.

What options do I have about contact for marketing purposes?

We would like to contact you on occasion about upcoming events, promotions and our latest news. We will not contact you on a weekly basis – we will only be in touch when we have something we really want to share or we think it would be of particular interest to you.

If you opt-in to our marketing mailing list, online or in store, you can opt-out at any time by clicking unsubscribe on any of our marketing email communications.

Alternatively, if you no longer want to be contacted for marketing purposes, please email info@laings.co.uk with the email subject: Marketing Mailing List Unsubscribe and the following content: Could you please remove: [Enter Name Here] [Enter Email Address here] From the Laings/Laings Directline Marketing Mailing List

How can I access the information you store and, if required, correct it?

If you believe any of the information we hold on you is inaccurate or incorrect, please do contact us and we will amend this for you.

What happens to the information which I volunteer?

Any information you provide us with, for whatever purpose (enquiry, event registration etc.), will only be used by us for the reason you provided it.

If you also opt-in to receive marketing communications from us, we may contact you about future offers or events, relating to your enquiry, which we think you may be interested in.

What information do you gather automatically about me?

On visiting our website, our system will gather information such as your IP address, the device you are using (PC, iPad, iPhone etc.), your chosen browser, the length of time you spend on our site and the pages you visit. This information does not allow us to identify you. It simply helps us to see trends in how our customers are using our website and how we might improve the user experience.

What is your Cookies Policy?

Cookies are small text files which websites send and store on your computer to collect information on how visitors are using their platforms. We send you cookies so our website recognises you as a unique user whenever you visit it.

When you visit our website, you will be asked to accept cookies. We ask you for this, so we can understand what our customers enjoy about our website (we collate this information into anonymous statistical reports on website activity) and to allow us, where possible, to tailor your experience on our website to you.

You don’t have to accept cookies. You can configure your web browser to refuse cookies or to notify you when a web site attempts to send you a cookie. You can also check your hard drive for cookie files and delete them from your computer.

Does this policy cover me when I click on a link to another website within laings.com/laingsdirectline.co.uk?

Where we have partnered with other organisations, we have included links on our website. These take you to our partner organisations’ websites and away from laings.com/laingsdirectline.co.uk. When you visit those websites, this privacy policy no longer applies and you will be subject to the privacy policy of the website you are browsing. Please do remember to read the privacy policy of the website you are visiting before providing any personal information.

Will this privacy policy change?

We review our privacy policy regularly and share any updates on this web page. This privacy policy was last updated on 21 April 2018.
