Our client came to Laings Directline with a clear vision: transform a tired, impractical kitchen into a beautiful, hardworking space that could keep up with the demands of an active family lifestyle.
As a young family, the kitchen needed to support busy everyday routines - from cooking and dining to entertaining and spending time together. Creating a sociable, functional space with plenty of workspace and practical storage was a key priority.
The brief was straightforward but purposeful: light green cabinetry for a fresh, calming aesthetic; high-quality materials that would stand up to daily family life; a practical, well-planned layout to make cooking and prep genuinely enjoyable; and all of this at an accessible price point that made sense for a growing family.
Poor storage & layout
The existing kitchen had an awkward, inefficient layout that made everyday cooking and organisation frustrating. Everything needed rethinking to maximise the available space.
Pre-adventure prep space
With a family that's often gearing up for days spent outdoors, the kitchen needed to function as a staging area - somewhere food could be prepared and packed efficiently before a day out.
Achieving the right green
Finding a shade of sage green that felt fresh and timeless and worked harmoniously with the natural light in the space was a key design consideration.

As a young family, getting genuine quality at a realistic price point was essential. The solution needed to deliver on both aesthetics and longevity without stretching the clients budget.
Our client visited the Laings Directline showroom in Inverurie, where the kitchen was designed from scratch in collaboration with the team. The showroom experience gave the client the opportunity to see materials, finishes and colours in person. The team worked closely with them to understand how the family actually used their kitchen, using that insight to inform every decision, from drawer organisation to worktop space.

The soft sage green cabinetry immediately established a calm, welcoming atmosphere - a refreshing change from the tired space it replaced. Every element of the design was guided by practicality, with thoughtful storage solutions and a well-planned layout that makes cooking, prepping, and getting organised genuinely easy.
The new kitchen handles it all. The family now spends most of their time here, a true heart-of-the-home transformation that has made day-to-day life noticeably easier and more enjoyable.
