This client approached Laings to help transform a unique and characterful space that would serve as their master bedroom and dressing room with snug seating area. Having visited our showroom several times, they were inspired by the Dall’Agnese Italian wardrobes, particularly drawn to the quality craftsmanship, range of finishes and elegant colour palette.
Led by Senior Designer and Supervisor, Suzanne, the project brief focused on creating a scheme that felt beautifully balanced between functionality and furniture design - offering ample storage while maintaining a calm, inviting atmosphere suited to the room’s tranquil views. Laings also fully installed and project managed the transformation, ensuring a seamless process from concept to completion.
The space presented a few distinctive challenges, most notably sloping ceilings along one side of the room. Our goal was to maximise hanging and storage space without compromising on aesthetics or flow.
In addition, the large feature window offered an incredible view, which we were keen to preserve as a focal point. It was important that the wardrobes didn’t dominate the room or make it feel enclosed; instead, the design needed to feel integrated and furniture-like, seamlessly complementing the architecture of the space.
Working closely with the customer, we explored two contrasting colour options, each carefully selected to enhance the natural light and textures within the room. Once the layout was refined, we tailored the Dall’Agnese wardrobe system to fit the sloping ceilings precisely, ensuring a custom, made-to-measure finish that maximised every inch of available space.
Attention was given to proportion, tone, and flow between the sleeping and dressing areas, creating a space that felt both practical and luxurious!
The completed dressing area and bedroom now feel harmonious and refined, offering a sense of calm and comfort while retaining the home’s quirky charm. The bespoke wardrobes enhance the room’s architecture rather than compete with it, achieving the desired look of quality that the customer envisioned.
The soft finishes, warm tones and tailored detailing together create a sophisticated retreat that blends beauty with everyday usability – the perfect balance between form and function.
