Be Bold – How to inject colour into your kitchen or bathroom

Tags: Design Focus + Colour + Kitchen + Bathroom + Design Advice + Inspiration

Neutrals have long been the colour palette of choice in almost every room in the home, so it has been very exciting to see an explosion of bright and deep colour saturating our interiors over the past 12 months.

Using bold colours can feel like a big step and we know many people worry that choosing a bright shade makes a statement which is hard to ignore if you are unhappy with the results. However, we would urge you to feel the fear and do it anyway with a little help from Laings! Here are our top tips:

Bold colour adds atmospheric drama in any room and will give your kitchen or bathroom its own unique personality.

You can incorporate as much or as little bright colour as you like. For example, in our showroom display below the citrus pop of the ILVE range cooker amplifies the golden vein in the Silestone worktop and adds a drop of sunshine to an otherwise neutral scheme.

Colour sets the mood within your space, so choose colours to suit how you want to use your room. For instance, bright colours work well in the kitchen because they refresh and invigorate a busy space, while deeper hues create a more contemplative, restive atmosphere – perfect for a relaxing bathroom.

In the bathroom, the easiest way to incorporate bold colour is through tiling. If that’s too daunting, make a statement with bathroom furniture which is available in an array of styles and finishes to complement traditional and contemporary rooms alike.

Bring colour into the kitchen with a bright glass splashback, which is guaranteed to make you smile on even the most hectic of days. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, choose units in a bold shade. Select a deep colour in a muted tone to give your space a grown up and sophisticated edge.

Be brave! Ultimately, your room is for you, so choose a colour which makes you feel good and not because it’s on trend.
